GarageBand Love

Hi Dolls,

We wanted to share with you this cool article Garageband wrote about us. We have been in the 1 spot over the last two years in the Dance genre section of GarageBand.com.

Check it out and leave us comments :)

Much Love,

Taxi Doll

"Taxi Doll goes for a ride atop the dance charts"

Once again, the charts at GarageBand.com don't lie. Taxi Doll, the international 'rocktronica' sensation, has taken its 1 position in our Dance genre and spread their chart-topping hot streak all over the US and UK.

As you read this, the band's single "Be With You" is receiving international radio airplay and hovering in the top single digits of the Billboard and Music Week UK dance charts. Led by red-hot frontwoman Dhana (think Shirley Manson meets Blondie) and producer/keyboardist Gregg Allen, the group shows no sign of stopping its rapid rise to popularity.

"This kind of validation keeps you moving forward," Allen told us. "We write music mostly for ourselves, but it's thrilling when you share it and people vibe on it."

The vibe has been utterly contagious, with Taxi Doll appearing in a star-studded list of TV shows and movies. Their songs have been all over MTV (Laguna Beach, The Hills) as well has other popular shows like CSI:NYC, Veronica Mars and Project Runway. Movie credits include John Tucker Must Die, Firewall and Shall we Dance; the band even got a song placed in an XBox video game.

"The exposure the placements have generated has been incredible," Allen said. "It has helped us grow our fan-base on a national level, which could otherwise only be achieved by radio. Of course, this also exposes our music to other music supervisors, hopefully leading to more placements and more audiences. It's a great promotional tool."

When asked what indie bands can do to get such exposure, Allen suggested having a healthy work ethic.

"As cliché as it sounds, be persistent. Every time we have had any chart success or TV/film placements, it has taken months and months to set it up."

As far as the Web goes, Taxi Doll is quick to point out that their online presence accelerates fan-base building to top speed, with fans driving their own interactive experience.

"The social networks have made everything almost instantaneous in the ways artists deal with their audience. When launching a new song or video, you get feedback right away. Good or bad, there is that instant dialogue. Your fans can reach out to you and you can reach right back."

For this very reason, he's also a happy GB member:

"GarageBand.com is pretty amazing. You can release almost-final songs through the site, making modifications to the final versions using feedback you received from your peers. We feel fortunate that most of the feedback has been lovely and encouraging."

You never know if you're going to review the next Taxi Doll or become them, so get out there and start reviewing and uploading!
